This is sure to be a great show,
Ive just recently re-discovered my love of Chiodos!
Hit me up for dates near you
ITS HERE!
A new Alesana tour!
I’ve seen these guys live twice now! Let me tell you this, you will NOT be disappointed. Ill post who is playing with them as soon as I find out.
Concert Etiquette & Apologies I want to bring up the idea of concert etiquette. I am a firm believe that it exists, different genres have different types of etiquette. Hardcore show goers have to be aware where they are in relation to the mosh pit. Huge guys know, if they aren’t moshing they are protecting. Here is my concert Etiquette story. A thirteen year old me went to warped tour, my first ever hard core show. Since I was what we call a concert n00b, I ended up forgetting to drink water all day. Well, while I saw Chiodos, I was right up front in the nitty gritty, a mixture between the heat, the dehydration and probably the overwhelming experience of being up front I passed out. That’s right, I passed out in a Chiodos pit. A huge man, picked me up ran me to the back of the crowd and dropped me off. He checked if I was okay and then ran back into the pit. That, my friends, is concert Etiquette.

Tragedies and Support Being a Canadian and a Warped Tour Goer, I would just like to say Rest In Peace to the young woman who passed away at this year’s Toronto Warped Tour.  Heads up, anyone with a Toronto Warped Tour ticket stub is welcome in free at any other Warped Tour Location.

Stage Dives and Name Drops

On July 9th I had the pleasure of checking out the summer of ska tour with Reel Big Fish, Suburban Legends, Big D and the kids table and Goldfinger(replaced by the Maxies when I saw them) I could rant and rave about how great it was but instead I’m going to give you a play by play on each band, how they perform, and hopefully that will give you a reason or two to go see them next time they are in your town.
The Maxies:  The Aquabats-type attire and the ‘fuck you’ attitude perfectly blended and topped with a sing-a-long vibe would be my way of describing the Maxies. Their light hearted lyrics and crowd pumping energy made it easy to forget Goldfinger once held their spot.

Suburban Legends: Choreographed brass instrument fighting, a modern day Elvis and a whole hell of a lot of dancing is what makes up this crowd pleasing band. It is virtually impossible to quit moving during their set. The matching outfits and playful attitude affirms that they really know what ska is all about.

Big D and the kids table: This is where the name drop comes in, since Stove Top hooked a sista’ up and got me in for free, I, of course am going to be biased. This DIY band really is one of the most energetic on-stage bands I have ever witnessed. There is never anyone standing still on stage. If you are into a band that’s too punk for ska but too ska for punk, Big D is the band for you.
Reel Big Fish: I need to start off by saying, I absolutely love that they refer to each other as best friends whilst on stage. Any ska show goer has to know this traditional ska band. You can spot their mutton chops and Hawaiian shirts from a mile away. Their songs will no doubt get you emotional, either you’re laughing, flipping someone off or dancing your ass off. One thing this band doesn’t need, is me to sell you on them.

*Unfortunately my phone got stolen, so I don’t actually have pictures from the show!
